Two years ago around this time of year a global hashtag spread through the winds. Millions and millions of testimonials from around the world shot like dandelions on all digital platforms. But then what?

An important note is that #metoo is not only a global hashtag. It’s our lives.

It’s about keys being held tightly in shivering hands. It’s a stranger's voice penetrating your ears. It’s an arm that’s stronger than you. That arm that later captures your waist when you rather go home. It’s about being forced, drugged, beaten, and belittled. It’s about asking your best friend to please, please call me as soon as you get home. Just so I know that you’re safe.

Sadly, this hashtag brought up something that’s been imprinted in many of us from a very young age. A learned behavior that now surfaced. Rage, sadness, defense. Painful memories about bodies belonging to those who take. Generational traumas primarily affecting one gender. It’s everywhere. It’s in the little things we do as we move through life. For example, I don’t know any men who location share every time they go on a date. But all the women who’ve been spoken over during meetings.

I’m glad that it all came rumbling at once. The words have been spoken. Laws changed. People arrested and fired. Burning with revenge. The feeling of unfairness is left as a global unsatisfactory. This is something that we all experienced. Something that needed to be addressed. We wanted change. And things are now moving rapidly.

It’s sadness in the way we move. Hope in our collective. I hope my words help fueling your power. So that you can molotov like a dandelion in a storm.
