As the ballots are getting counted, I’m listening to all the different parties and their speeches. Can’t sleep. Can’t look away. And it’s scary and it’s uncomfortable and our lack of respect for basic human rights is out in the open. But we can’t look away again.
We can’t continue to pat ourselves on the back. We can’t silence the fact that our politicians speak with unethical rhetoric. We can’t pull our blinders down and pretend that our SECOND LARGEST party doesn’t talk openly of their close ties to nazis. And I thought more of us. I thought we’d come further by now. But it’s out in the open and it’s about time that we continue to live with the consequences of our own fucking selfish actions.
And I will continue to disagree and do better. Because all is not lost. Even though it feels like it.
